Corigliano – Beethoven
Concerto for percussion and orchestra by John Corigliano, a contemporary American, which emphasizes the role of percussion. Both Beethovenian pieces in the concerto have a strong rhythmic energy and a sense of forward movement. The timpani are instrumental in this energy and also reinforce dramatic and tragic moments of conflict in both pieces.
Rona Kenan at the Opera
More than twenty years after the mesmerizing string instruments in “Mabul” (Flood), from her debut album were first played on the radio and established Rona Kenan’s voice as one of the special voices of her generation, she joins the Jerusalem Israeli Chamber Orchestra in a one-time evening that brings together her work with orchestral arrangements for the first time.
