The Israeli Opera works to promote the issue of accessibility. We see all our customers as equals, entitled to enjoy full and equal access to all of the opera’s facilities and services.
Our attention is paid to making the opera hall, the building, and the service points accessible in order to allow all our visitors a good experience, accompanied by sensitive and equitable service.

Making the service accessible to visitors
Opera managers and employees have undergone training in the field of accessible service for customers with disabilities.
As part of the training, employees received tools and experienced hands-on experience in providing accessible service.
Accessibility of the Opera House building
-
Golda Parking Lot – The Beach Estate Parking Lot is located close to the Opera House and offers reserved parking spaces for people with disabilities and easy access to standard elevators. From the parking lot and King Saul Boulevard, there is easy wheelchair access to the Opera House.
-
The interior space in the Opera House’s lobby is designed with an emphasis on particularly wide and comfortable passageways, in order to allow for the comfortable passage of a wheelchair or other walking aids.
-
Good lighting is installed throughout the building for the benefit of visitors with visual impairments.
-
The cashier counter is accessible for service to the left of the main entrance. The cashier has an accessible station that includes an induction loop.
-
Those who have difficulty walking are invited to ask for assistance from the ushers at the entrance to the foyer.
-
Accessible elevators are located on both sides of the main entrance. The dimensions of the elevators comply with the legal standard and there is a clear voice announcement and Braille lettering on the elevator buttons.
-
Directional signs throughout the opera house meet the requirements of the Accessibility Law.
-
Four restrooms were added to the second and third floors of the portico. These floors can be reached by elevators.
Accessibility of the Opera House Hall
-
The Israeli Opera invests considerable effort and resources in making the opera house accessible, with the aim of creating a pleasant and positive experience for all visitors to opera performances.
-
The concert hall has special seating for people with disabilities. When booking an accessible seat, please pay attention to the designated areas. If necessary, you can consult with our box office representative.
-
The hall has 10 places accessible to the disabled, including a chair for an attendant. The places are located in the right and left galleries, which are on the second floor of the hall. They can be reached by elevator.
-
12 seats at the front of the hall are reserved for those with walking difficulties and those with visual or hearing impairments. The seats will be reserved until a week before the show. The reserved seats are the outermost seats in rows 1, 2, 3. Access to the seats is from the entrance floor.
-
Hearing-impaired visitors have access to a system that allows them to listen to audio content in real time using the Bettear app. The app is operated via a mobile phone, so it is recommended to download the app before arriving at the show to try it out and calibrate it in advance. To use the app, you must have headphones or a Bluetooth connection compatible with your hearing aid or implant. Open the app in the hall and the connection will be made automatically. You can borrow an inspiration loop from our organizers.
-
It is possible to be escorted to the seating area, by contacting the Accessibility Coordinator in advance at least 48 hours before the performance date.
-
If you need sign language translation, please note that the time frame for this request is up to 21 days before the day of the performance.
Access to information and advertising
The Israeli Opera is engaged in making information and advertising accessible to its customer public.
Website accessibility
The Israeli Opera believes in and works for equal opportunities in the online space as well, and invests considerable effort and resources in making the website accessible in order to facilitate its use, as well as to make information and purchasing services more available to people with disabilities or those who use assistive technologies to use computers.
An accessible website is one that allows everyone to browse with the same level of efficiency and enjoyment as all other users.
Website accessibility information
This website meets the requirements of the Equal Rights for People with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013.
The site complies with the recommendations of the Israeli standard (TI 5568) for Internet content accessibility at level AA and the recommendations of the WCAG2.0 document from the W3C organization.
The site is also optimized for display in common browsers and for use on mobile phones.
Among the repairs made to the site
This site has undergone strict accessibility adjustments, including, among other things, semantic and informative implementation for assistive technologies, setting navigation and operation with a keyboard only according to the recommendations of the World Wide Web Standards Organization (W3C), color adjustments, and adding help labels and instructions in forms for the benefit of all users. Also, in order to obtain the best browsing experience with screen reading software, we recommend using the latest NVDA software.
We have added an accessibility helper component, which allows control over font sizes, bypassing blocks, guiding texts for NVDA and JAWS screen readers, keyboard navigation that makes it easier to browse the site without using a mouse, adjustments to the site’s compatibility for browsing with NVDA and JAWS screen readers, creating comfort for viewing the site in black and white/color contrast, blocking animation and any moving element on the site, highlighting links.
If you require a document that appears on the site and is not accessible, please contact us with a link to the location and we will take care of it as soon as possible.
If you find a component or page on the site that is inaccessible, we would be happy if you contact us and we will make sure to fix it as soon as possible.
Ways to contact us for requests and suggestions for improvements regarding accessibility
