A unique collaboration between a musical ensemble directed by Itamar Doari and the Vertigo dance company created a one-off performance that moves between patterns and structured dance to free and improvised creation.
In a reality where the familiar order is repeatedly unraveled, the work also seeks to disrupt the order, to leave open and unknown areas that are being woven before the eyes of the audience.
It is an invitation to peer into the space from which inspiration springs – from music to body movement and vice versa. By watching the performance, the audience becomes a partner in the creative process of the work.
The performance was created out of a desire to follow the movement of the heart as it contracts and expands, the movement of the eyes as they close and open wide again. The dancers’ moments of improvisation require deep listening to the music and what is happening around them in order to rely on what is happening in the here and now.
Even when everything is noisy outside, the dancers’ movement searches for an anchor to hold onto between rising and falling, to find the spaces between sound and movement, in which they can rest.
Proceeds from the show “Coma” will be donated to the Bortigo Resilience Project – Rehabilitation of Soldiers and Their Families
