14 world-renowned dancers and a live orchestra of 11 virtuoso musicians, including the instrument that represents tango, the Bandoneon, participate in the Forever Tango show. All the participants in the show create an evening that celebrates the passionate music and dances of Argentina. All the dancers, performing to the sound of original and traditional music, created their dances in collaboration with the creator and director Luis Bravo.
Forever Tango was nominated for the prestigious Tony Award on Broadway for Best Choreography and won the Drama Desk Award for Best Choreography and Best Musical. The show was also nominated for the Olivier Award in London and won prestigious awards in other countries.
The tango is a feeling that you dance,” says Bravo, “a story you tell in three minutes. It’s passionate, it’s melancholic. It’s tender, violent. You dance it with somebody – but it is so internal, you dance it by yourself. More than just a dance, the tango is music, a drama, a culture, a way of life.”
Luis Bravo, the creator of the show, is, among other things, a world-renowned cellist who has performed with the most prominent symphony orchestras around the world. Among them are the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the National Orchestra of Argentina, the Colon Opera House Orchestra in Buenos Aires and more.
Forever Tango’s design team includes
Argemira Affonso (Costumes)
Luis Bravo (Lighting)
Mike Miller (Sound)
and Jean-Luc Don Vito (Make-up)
Horacio Romo serves as Fist Bandoneón
