Swan Lake on Ice

The entire opera house stage will be covered in a layer of real ice for the stars’ performance.
IMPERIAL ICE STARS UK in the most popular and beloved ballet of all time – Swan Lake – to the sweeping music of Tchaikovsky.
24 dancers/participants, a large ice stage, innovative scenery and lighting, spectacular effects, fire, aerial acrobatics and wonderful music, guarantee a fun and exciting experience for all ages.

The 24 skating stars, world champions, have collectively won more than 250 medals and championships in ice skating around the world, performing in theater and opera halls.

This production of Swan Lake, Ballet on Ice, offers a new prologue to the classic tale, bringing a human dimension to the tale of the princess transformed into Barbara by an evil sorcerer.

The show features new, immersive choreography and direction, created by Tony Mercer, considered one of the world’s foremost creators of ballet on ice.
Also impressive backdrops using cutting-edge techniques and 14 tons of ice on stage.

Tony Mercer on his creation: “From my extensive research and listening to Tchaikovsky’s music, I wanted to bring a more realistic approach to the beloved tour to the stage, with an ending that leaves no questions unanswered. I included elements never before seen in the world of figure skating, while creating a new artistic style that combines ice skating with ballet. I always felt it was a natural thing to bring Swan Lake to the ice stage.”
I first created this work in 2006, but with the new production I poured into it additional elements of modern dance and movements and steps that stem from the development in the world of figure skating. Elements that challenge our dancers and bring them to new heights.
Aside from the innovative technical elements of the set and lighting, we created spectacular new costumes that were sewn in the Bolshoi Theater’s sewing rooms in Moscow.

The magical show is suitable for audiences of all ages and provides an unforgettable artistic experience.

The show lasts two hours and ten minutes, including an intermission.
