The Israeli Opera

Corigliano – Beethoven

The two Beethovenian works in the concerto have strong rhythmic energy and a sense of forward movement.

It opens with a concerto for percussion and orchestra by John Corigliano, a contemporary American, which emphasizes the role of percussion. Both Beethovenian pieces in the concerto have a strong rhythmic energy and a sense of forward movement. The timpani are instrumental in this energy and also reinforce dramatic and tragic moments of conflict in both pieces.

The concert is dedicated to the memory of Rafi Feiglson, the percussionist of the Israel Symphony who passed away prematurely in late 2024.
