Cojocaru – Neshima – Hanshama: World Premiere
In our age, that of post-truth populism, words seem to lose their meaning, and breathing remains our sole anchor. We breathe, ergo we are. Amid prolonged uncertainty, we move constantly between anxiety, despair, distress, routine, small joys, and the hope for healing and renewal. The inner bodily movement reflected in the process of inhaling and exhaling inspired Cojocaru’s single-movement work — an exploration of the ways in which the orchestra breathes or is resuscitated; how it moves by instinct, responds to disruption, and reveals the presence — or absence — of its inner pulse.
Richard Strauss – Oboe Concerto
Strauss’ Oboe Concerto is a lyrical and delicate work composed in 1945. It combines a classical clarity of form with the rich harmonies and romantic expressiveness characteristic of the great German Romantic tradition. The concerto places the oboe at the center, allowing it to display remarkable lyricism, agility, and virtuosity. Its three movements unfold in a nearly seamless continuum, creating music of serenity, elegance, and refined beauty. It is regarded as one of the most significant works ever written for the instrument.
Mendelssohn – Symphony No. 3 in A minor, “The Scottish”
Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3, “The Scottish,” is a musical journey through misty landscapes, ancient castles, and echoes of the past. Inspired by his travels in Scotland, Mendelssohn created a work in which nature and emotion merge into a rich tapestry of sound: at times dark and introspective, at times stormy and energetic, and ultimately radiant and full of hope. The symphony unfolds as a single continuous arc, with each movement growing organically from the one before it. A jubilant and luminous finale brings the journey to a glorious close, filled with energy and triumph.
