Support for Meitar Opera Studio

The Israeli Opera has been working for over two decades to discover and nurture the future generation of Israeli opera singers. To this end, it has established a special program that allows young singers to continue their studies and engage in operatic activities, which will prepare them for an operatic career in Israel and abroad.

The Meitar Opera Studio program is a practical program for Israeli opera singers who have graduated from a recognized music academy, usually with a master’s degree, who are at the beginning of their careers and are accepted into the program after a rigorous selection process.

Over the course of two years, the singers specialize in the fields of operatic singing, learn a wide repertoire, practice acting and movement on stage, learn Italian, receive lessons in clear pronunciation (diction), and more.

The studio members take an active part in the opera’s ongoing work, participate in educational activities throughout the country, and perform during opera hours for children. Some even perform roles on the opera stage in full-fledged productions during the season. Most of the studio’s graduates find their professional path on stages in Israel and in leading opera houses around the world.

In 2011, as a token of appreciation for the long years of tremendous and ongoing support of the Zvi and Ofra Meitar Family Foundation for Israeli opera in general and Opera Studio in particular, the name of the program was changed to “Meitar Opera Studio.”

The “Meitar Opera Studio” program, thanks to which an entire generation of opera singers has grown up here, is supported solely by donations.

We invite you to join the Meitar Opera Studio family of donors and accompany future Israeli singers on their path to success.

  • Annual scholarship donation to a singer in the program – 60,000 NIS
  • General donation to the program – any donation will be gratefully received.

Donations will be noted in Israeli Opera publications.
Donations are recognized for tax purposes according to Section 46 of the Income Tax Ordinance.
