Born in Israel. She holds a BA and MA from the Guildhall School of Music in London, where she studied with Susan McCulloch and John Evans. In London, Maya has performed at St. John Smith Square, Wigmore Hall and the Barbican Centre. She has also performed at Oxford (Leeder Festival), Birmingham, Leeds, Southampton and the Cheltenham Festival.
She has worked extensively with accompanist Graham Johnson, appearing with him in the Young Songmaker’s Almanac (2004) and in recitals at Lake Como, Italy. She has participated in master classes with Walker, Johnson, Burnside, Bowman, Katz, Jansen, Zehava Gal, Norris and Dornman.
In Israel, she performed as a soloist with the Israeli Chamber Orchestra in Tom (Oded Zehavi) and with the Raanana Symphonie Orchestra in Eli Shema Tachinati (Oded Zehavi). She was also a member of the Habima National Theater. Her operatic repertoire includes Cleopatra in Julius Caesar (Handel), Zerlina in Don Giovanni (Mozart), Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro (Mozart), The Nanny in The Choke Ring (Brittany) and Maria in A Tale of Suburbia (Bernstein).
Participated in the International Opera Workshop in Tel Aviv (2006) where she performed the role of Betty Booth in The Witch Hunt (Ward). Winner of the Sir Anthony Lewis Memorial Prize (competition held at the Royal Academy in London). Winner of a scholarship of excellence from the Guildhall School, the Jewish Association in England, as well as a scholarship for studies abroad from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation for the years 2004-2005.
