Marc Heinz (Amsterdam, 1964) is an internationally acclaimed lighting designer whose career began in 1988 as Lighting Director of Toneelgroep Amsterdam. Since becoming a freelance designer in 1993, he has created lighting designs for leading opera houses, theatres, festivals, musicals, exhibitions and major events across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the United States. His opera credits include Aida, presented at the Stade de France in Paris before an audience of 85,000, as well as numerous productions presented at leading opera houses in Tokyo, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Paris, Basel, New York, Amsterdam, Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Tel Aviv and many other cities. In 2015, he made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. His work has received numerous awards, including the 2013 Musical Award for Shrek, the Musical, and recognition for exhibitions and international projects. He has collaborated with prominent directors including Keith Warner, Mariusz Treliński, Pierre Audi and Amon Miyamoto.
