Agnes Gyarmathy, set designer, was born in Hungary. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Posen. She has designed numerous productions for the Hungarian State Opera, the Budapest Operetta Theatre as well as for many Hungarian films. She teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. She designed the sets for the movie Mephisto directed by Istvan Szabo which won the 1981 Oscar for Best Foreign Film. This is her first work for the Israeli Opera.
