Ravel – Tzigane
Maurice Ravel composed Tzigane in 1924/25, inspired by the Hungarian-Gypsy musical tradition. Rather than quoting it directly, he transformed its spirit into a work of rhythmic freedom, rich ornamentation, and improvisatory flair. With meticulous attention to orchestral color and the balance between soloist and ensemble, Ravel creates a dramatic journey culminating in extraordinary violin virtuosity. Tzigane is far more than a dazzling showpiece: it is a profound exploration of style, texture, and the violin’s expressive power.

Bruch – Violin Concerto
One of the most beloved and frequently performed works in the Romantic violin repertoire, this concerto was composed between 1864 and 1866. Unlike many concertos of its time, Bruch presents the violin not merely as a vehicle for virtuosity, but as an almost human voice, carrying a continuous and deeply lyrical emotional line.

 Schubert – Symphony No. 8 “Unfinished”
Composed in 1822, Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony reveals a new intimacy and harmonic sensitivity. Though consisting of only two movements, it forms a complete and deeply concentrated musical world. From the dark, contemplative opening to the lyrical serenity of the second movement, the work achieves a rare balance of mystery, simplicity, and emotional depth.

Tchaikovsky – Romeo and Juliet

 Written in 1869 at the suggestion of fellow composer Mily Balakirev, Romeo and Juliet was Tchaikovsky’s first major attempt to transform Shakespearean drama into music. Revised in 1880, the final version refined the work’s dramatic arc and orchestral balance. Rather than a traditional symphony, it is a symphonic poem that contrasts the sweeping lyricism of the love theme with the turbulent forces of conflict and tragedy.
