Italian bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni has had a career spanning more than 25 years, beginning with his debut with the Vienna Philharmonic at the Salzburg Festival under Nikolaus Harnoncourt.

His repertoire includes Figaro and the Count in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart); Guglielmo and Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte (Mozart); Leporello and the title role in Don Giovanni (Mozart); Méphistophélès in Faust (Gounod) and La Damnation de Faust (Berlioz); and Golaud in Pelléas et Mélisande (Debussy). Recent performances include Dr. Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore (Donizetti) at Seattle Opera; Enrico VIII in Anna Bolena (Donizetti) at Opernhaus Zürich; the Four Villains in Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Offenbach) at Teatro alla Scala; Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte (Mozart) at the Wiener Staatsoper; the title role in Don Giovanni (Mozart) at Houston Grand Opera; and Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini) at Opéra National de Paris.

He created the role of Don Rodrigue in the world premiere of Le Soulier de satin (Dalbavie) at Opéra national de Paris, and has performed roles including Mahomet II in Le Siège de Corinthe (Rossini), Lorenzo Da Ponte in The Phoenix (Tarik O’Regan), and Giorgio in I Puritani (Bellini).

In concert, he has performed under conductors including Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Andris Nelsons, Ivan Fischer, Sir Simon Rattle, Gustavo Dudamel, and Riccardo Muti, in repertoire including Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Missa Solemnis, A Survivor from Warsaw (Schoenberg), Messa da Requiem (Verdi), and works by Rossini, Berlioz, Schumann, Brahms, Haydn, and Bach.

He has given recitals at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Concertgebouw, the Musikverein, and the Edinburgh Festival.
