Vasiljeva Julija, Soprano

Julija Vasiljeva graduated from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, studying with Anita Garanča and later earning her master’s degree with Lilija Greidāne. She made her opera debut in a production of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at the JVLAM. Since 2013, she has been a principal soloist at the Latvian National Opera, performing leading roles including Violetta in La traviata (Verdi), Gilda in Rigoletto (Verdi), Donna Anna in Don Giovanni (Mozart), Liù in Turandot (Puccini) and Marguerite in Faust (Gounod). In 2022, she was named “Vocal Soloist of the Year” at the Great Music Awards. Starting with the 2022/2023 season, Julija Vasiljeva moved to the lyric-spinto soprano register. Recent and future engagements include Turandot (Puccini) in Mainz, Adriana Lecouvreur (Cilea) in Riga, Aida (Verdi) in Zagreb, and Nabucco (Verdi) as Abigaille in Nuremberg and Tel Aviv.
