Kim David, Director

David Kim studied industrial engineering and simultaneously worked as a production manager and director in Cologne, where he created three short films. He later began studying opera directing, theater and musicology in Munich. During his studies he assisted at the Bavarian State Opera on Tosca and supported the Munich Opera Festival’s dramaturgy. In 2024/25 he worked as a dramaturgy assistant at Staatsoper Unter den Linden, contributing to new productions including Nabucco, Roméo et Juliette, Freischütz für Kinder and Fin de parti. Back in Munich he assisted in Madama Butterfly, Cavalleria rusticana/Pagliacci and Pénélope, and directed La Voix Humaine. From 2025/26 he will join Theater Dortmund as stage manager and assistant director. Over the years he has worked with directors such as Andrea Breth, Francesco Micheli, Emma Dante and Mariame Clément.
