Gerd Amelung has specialized in baroque and classical vocal music since 2005, working as conductor, vocal coach, and historical keyboard player. He studied in Weimar and Basel, and his productions include Hasse’s Marc’Antonio e Cleopatra (Ekhof-Festival Gotha), Monteverdi’s Ulisse (Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar), Scarlatti’s Amor Prigionero, Benda’s Ariadne auf Naxos, and Agricola’s Achille in Sciro (Theater Altenburg-Gera, recorded by Rondeau 2025). He served as artistic director of GÜLDENER HERBST (2018–24), interim director of the Händel-Festspiele Halle (2024), and will lead the Heinrich Schütz Musikfest from 2026. Amelung is a laureate of the Konzertgesellschaft München and a DAAD grantee.
