Rachel Frenkel, mezzo soprano, was born in Israel. She was a member of the Meitar Opera Studio. Her repertoire includes Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Idamante in Idomeneo, Sesto in La clemenza di Tito, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte (Mozart), Siebel in Faust, Stephano in Romeo et Juliette (Gounod), the composer in Ariadne auf Naxos (R. Strauss), the title role in La Cenerentola, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), Nicklausse in Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Offenbach), Ruggiero in Alcina (Handel), Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Britten) and others. She was a member of the ensemble of the Vienna Staatsoper and has also performed in the opera houses of Berlin, Munich, Los Angeles, Chicago, Montpellier, Budapest, Dresden, Bregenz, Glyndebourne, the Salzburg Festival and others. At the Israeli Opera she performed several roles including Mercedes in Carmen (Bizet).
