Nadav Barnea, born in Israel, is a light and sound artist, an independent musician (songwriter and composer), and a lighting designer for numerous productions, including Peter Pan, The Bride and the Butterfly Hunter, The Endless Mourner, The Hedge, Electra, The Son, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Lolita at the Gesher Theatre, the Cameri Theatre, the Beersheba Theatre, the Habima National Theatre, and elsewhere. He also designed the lighting for, and composed the music for, Birds at the Burgtheater in Vienna. His debut album, On Life and Death, was released in 2013.

Winner of the Rosenblum Prize, the Golden Hedgehog Prize, and the Haifa Festival Prize, Nadav is also an artist and artistic director of interdisciplinary installations, among them Sparks and Light Storm (Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Ofer Pavilion), and Bring Them Home (Heichal HaTarbut) — the light installation calling for the return of the hostages, which he initiated and led on the Heichal HaTarbut building. He also created The Dreamers (Israel Festival) and Pa’am (Acre Festival).

In theatre, he has also designed lighting at the Beit Lessin Theatre and the Performing Arts Center, and in dance he designed lighting for The Four Seasons ( Itzik Galili), Ne’ichus and Purple Fugue (Batsheva Ensemble), Love Music (Yasmeen Godder), Nona (Vertigo Dance Company), and Al Atlal (Suzanne Dellal Centre). For the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, he designed the lighting for The Miraculous Mandarin.
