Corigliano – Beethoven

Concerto for percussion and orchestra by John Corigliano, a contemporary American, which emphasizes the role of percussion. Both Beethovenian pieces in the concerto have a strong rhythmic energy and a sense of forward movement. The timpani are instrumental in this energy and also reinforce dramatic and tragic moments of conflict in both pieces.

Remembering Rafi Feigelson

The evening will open with a concerto for percussion and orchestra by contemporary American composer John Corigliano. In Corigliano’s work, the role of percussion is highlighted. In both Beethovenian works, there is also a strong rhythmic energy and a sense of moving forward. The timpani plays a central role in bringing this energy to expression, and in both works, it reinforces the dramatic and tragic moments of conflict. The concert is dedicated to the memory of Rafi Feigelson, percussionist of the Israel Symphony, who passed away prematurely in late 2024.
