Joan Pearce , a fellow director and choreographer, was born in England. She is an actress, writer and playwright, translator, choreographer and director. As an actress, she has appeared in plays in the West End in London as Hannah in Arcadia, Jean in Entertainer, Celia Todd in Serious Money, Elena Bakin, Lindsay in Life After George, Mrs. Allonby in A Woman of No Importance and more. In the Royal Shakespeare Company, she has appeared in many roles including Ophelia in Hamlet, Olivia in Twelfth Night, Imogen in Cymbeline, Leah in The Dybbuk, Doll in Henry IV, Antigone in the Theban Trilogy, The White Witch in Leo, The Witch and the Wardrobe and more. She has appeared in many films and television series including A Doll’s House, Up the River, Two Gentlemen of Verona, A Comedy of Errors, Measure for Measure and more. She wrote the play for a new musical in collaboration with the renowned Chinese singer Se Dingding, which premiered in Xi’an, China. In opera, she was associate director and choreographer in the production of Othello (Verdi) at the Vienna State Opera and I Capuleti e I Montague (Bellini) at La Scala in Milan. This is her first work in the Israeli Opera.
