Niv Hoffman , a director born in Israel, completed his BA in composition at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University and also participated in the English National Theatre’s Young Directors Program and the Robert Wilson Training Program. Between 2001 and 2011, he worked as an assistant director at the Israeli Opera, the Vienna State Opera, and the opera houses of Oviedo, Rome, Moscow, Antwerp, Palermo, Glennborn, La Scala in Milan with directors including Franco Zeffirelli, David Fontane, Miriam Clement, and more. He has won scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. As a director, he has created productions for the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, the Israeli Chamber Orchestra, the Sinfonietta Beersheba Orchestra, the Israel Institute for Operatic Arts, the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, and more. Recently, he directed Mozart’s Celebration on the second stage of the Dresden Opera House, The Rape of Lucrezia (Brittany) in Tianjin , China , The Arabian Princess (De Arraigue) at the Vienna State Opera, and more. At the Israeli Opera, he directed, among other things, many productions for Meitar Opera Studio and many productions of the Children’s Opera Hour, including The Magic Flute , The Marriage of Figaro (Mozart), Cinderella (Rossini), Hansel and Gretel (Humperdink), and more.
