Jakob Brossmann, born in Vienna in 1986, is a stage designer and filmmaker. He has collaborated with puppeteer and director Nikolaus Habjan for many years in theater and opera, including productions for the Munich State Opera, Munich Residenztheater, Schauspielhaus Zurich, Akademietheater Vienna, Theater an der Wien and Semperoper Dresden.
Brossmann’s documentaries were screened at international festivals like Locarno, IDFA and Dok Leipzig. His debut Lampedusa im Winter was awarded the Austrian Academy Award for Best Documentary 2016 and the State Award for Reporting on Europe 2016. Since 2022, he has been working as a curator with the cultural NGO Globart. Brossmann has been teaching at the University of Applied Arts Vienna since 2017.
