Azer Zada, tenor, was born in Baku (Azerbaijan). He moved to Italy to study at the Academy of Teatro alla Scala in Milan. His repertoire includes Radamès in Aida (Verdi) at the Arena di Verona with Riccardo Muti, Cavaradossi in Tosca (Puccini) in Venice, Don José in Carmen (Bizet) in Parma and Moscow and Luigi in Il tabarro (Puccini) at the Festival Puccini and in Oviedo. His repertoire also includes lyrical roles such as Rodolfo in La bohème (Puccini) and Alfredo in La traviata (Verdi). Recent highlights include Cavalleria rusticana (Mascagni) and Pagliacci (Leoncavallo) in Montpellier and Un ballo in maschera (Verdi) at the Tokyo Spring Festival. He worked with conductors including Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Chailly, Myung-Whun Chung and Riccardo Muti.
