Danny Erlich, director, was born in Israel. He is a versatile artist – director, writer, actor, musician, designer and painter. Graduated with honors from the Art School in Ramat Hasharon. He has worked in design, puppet design, writing and acting on television. In recent years, he has focused on directing musical theater and operas. He directed the operas Desecration of the Magic (Mozart) as part of “Opera Acheret”, Genesis in Sounds, Ram Hanerdem and Zman Shaul ( Moshe Zorman), and Yuval (Abel Erlich) as part of the Biennale for Modern Music. He directs with the best orchestras in the country.
At the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem, he directed The Marriage of Figaro (Mozart) and The Bat (R. Strauss). At the Buchman-Mehta School in Tel Aviv, he directed Dido and Aeneas (Purcell) and The Boy and the Magicians (Ravel), where he also teaches the opera class and acting lessons for singers. He also directed The Impresario (Mozart) with the Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra, The Maid of Honor (Pergolese) with the Stage Orchestra. He directed and wrote a children’s play The Rooster Prince with the Deaf-Blind Theater ‘Please Touch’. He directed Orpheus Passion (Bach, David Zeva) with the Opera Studio of the Israeli Opera.
Founder of Opera Chamber, in which he directed the world premieres of the operas The Bald Singer (Sharon-Ionesco), Who (Kiki Keren-Hoss) and the operas The Cheat (Menachem Avidom and Ephraim Kishon) and The Inn of the Spirits (Moshe Zorman and Nathan Alterman), the latter two as part of the Israeli Music Festival together with the Israeli Sinfonietta Beer Sheva. He directed The Medium (Manotti) as part of the International Opera Workshop.
