בחודש יוני 0102 נפל דבר בישראל. האופרה הישראלית בעזרתם של
שותפים ונותני חסות רבים, העלתה לראשונה אופרה למרגלות המצדה.
זו הייתה תחילתה של מסורת - פסטיבל אופרה בינלאומי נולד בישראל.
למרות גילו הצעיר הוא התבסס כאירוע התרבותי הגדול והמורכב ביותר
המתקיים במדינה וייסד תיירות מזן חדש לישראל - תיירות תרבות.
וכך, מעבר לעשרות אלפי הישראלים שזכו בחוויה בלתי נשכחת, מהווה
הפסטיבל מוקד משיכה לאלפי תיירים הפוגשים את הפנים היפות של
ישראל ונחשפים תוך כדי כך לצדדים אחרים של מדינתנו, צדדים של
יצירה, חדשנות והיסטוריה.
מעבר לכל אלה, מהווה הפסטיבל מנוע כלכלי אדיר לאזור.
בתקופת ההכנות לפסטיבל וכמובן במהלכו, מועסקים אלפי עובדים מאזור
המועצה האזורית תמר והנגב בפיתוח השטח לקראת הפסטיבל, ובתי
המלון באזור ים המלח זוכים לעדנהשאין כמוה. מלבד עשרותאלפי רוכשי
הכרטיסים, צופים באופרה במצדה אלפי אנשים בפריפריה במוקדי שידור
מיוחדיםתחתכיפתהשמיים ובכךתורם הפסטיבל להפצתאמנותהאופרה
לקהלים רחבים וזאת חינם אין כסף.
ביוני 4102 יתקיים הפסטיבל בפעם הרביעית עם האופרה לה טרוויאטה
מאת ורדי. בנוסף, אנו שמחים לארח את התזמורת הפילהרמונית
הישראלית עם המנצח קנט נגנו.
Something historic happened in Israel in June 2010, when
the Israeli Opera, with the help of numerous partners and
sponsors, staged a full opera at the foot of Masada for
the first time. It was the beginning of a new tradition – an
international opera festival in Israel. Though still relatively
new, the Masada opera festival has established itself as the
country's largest complex cultural event, and has created
a new kind of tourism to Israel – cultural tourism.
Indeed, along with the tens of thousands of Israelis who
have enjoyed this unforgettable experience, the festival
has drawn thousands of foreign tourists that were exposed
to the beautiful face of Israel - the artistically creative and
culturally innovative face.
Moreover, the festival gives the Negev an incredible economic
boost. To lay the groundwork for the performances and of
course, during the festival itself, thousands of people from
the Tamar Regional Council and elsewhere in the south
are employed. During the festival the hotels in the Dead
Sea region are prospering. In addition to the thousands of
ticket-buyers, the Masada performances are also viewed by
thousands more in outlying communities via live broadcast
to various open-air venues. In this way, the festival brings the
art of opera to a wider audience at no charge.
In June 2014, the fourth Israeli Opera Festival at Masada
will feature Verdi's La traviata, and for the first time will also
include a concert by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
