עונת המחול שלנו משקפת יותר מאי פעם את המגמה ההולכת ומתחזקת
של טשטוש הגבולות בין מחול לתיאטרון – מחול שהוא תיאטרון, תיאטרון
שהוא מחול. עונה מסעירה עם מבחר להקות בינלאומיות - מרק מוריס, בלט
דיסלדורף, להקת המחול של קרולין קרלסון ועוד. נתחדש עם יצירת מקור

את המיטב – את התמהיל הנכון בין האהוב והמוכר לבין החדש והמאתגר
ומרגישה שבעונה זו הצלחנו במשימה זו היטב – מחכים לראותכם עמנו.

Our 31st season is about to start, beginning the fourth decade of
our activities.
This time around, our opera season celebrates the greatest love
stories of all time, first and foremost the greatest love story of all –
Romeo et Juliette
. And speaking of Shakespeare, we are staging
Verdi's first Shakespearean opera –
Macbeth
, in our unforgettable
production directed by Jean-Claude Auvray. Maestro Daniel Oren
will conduct
Il trovatore
, anotherVerdi opera that will be followed by
a story in which love and goodness rule the day,
La Cenerentola
,
Rossini's comic and good-natured version of Cinderella.
Our friends from the Budapest Operetta Theater return this year with
Johann Strauss' bubblingoperetta

host the Lithuanian National Opera with their classical production of

The summer months will feature several festivals throughout Israel.
We will open in June with the beloved production of

at the
Sultan's Pool in Jerusalem, and finish in September with our crown
jewel,themost important cultural event in Israel – theMasadaOpera
Festival, with two productions based on biblical stories:

by Saint-Saens and Haydn's
The Creation

Our upcoming dance season reflects more than ever the
increasing trend of almost nonexistent boundaries between
dance and theater – dance that is theater, theater that is dance.
Highlights include Mark Morris, the Düsseldorf Ballet, Pilobolus and
a new original creation by Itzik Galili named
Man of the Hour
–
without a doubt one of the most intriguing productions of the
season in which opera singers and dancers will share the stage.
Classical balletomanes will savor the St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre
with
Swan Lake
and
Giselle
.
Our music season features the liturgical series with the Jerusalem
Symphony Orchestra and the symphonic series with the Opera
orchestra – the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion. The
Golden Saturday series continues its successful operatic highlights
concerts as well as the jazz series which hosts young international
jazz musicians.
For the younger generation, to which our eyes are always lifted with
joy, we are preparing a heartwarming surprise – an opera festival
for the entire family during the Sukkot holiday, comprising our three
wonderful productions:
Alice in Wonderland
,
The Magic Flute
and
Cinderella
. Besides this, there is
Magical Sounds
with Nitza
Shaul in a new and surprising program, and
Children Opera
Hour
, an enchanting hour for the little ones that will be happy to
meet you this year as well, on the golden stairs in our foyer.
Like each new season, I hope that we shall continue to be as
exciting as ever and bring to our public the very best – the right
combination of familiar favorites with the new and challenging. I feel
