    Grigorian Stella, mezzo-soprano

    Stella Grigorian, mezzo soprano, was born in Georgia where she began her musical studies, followed by studies in Vienna. She made her professional debut as a member of the ensemble at the Vienna Staatsoper where her numerous roles included Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), Zerlina in Don Giovanni (Mozart), Despina in Cosi fan tutte (Mozart), Pierotto in Linda di Chamounix (Donizetti), Meg Page in Falstaff (Verdi), Antigone in Oedipe (Enescu) and Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette (Gounod). Other roles in her repertoire include Charlotte in Werther (Massenet), Giovanna Seymour in Anna Bolena (Donizetti), Isabella in L'italiana in Algeri (Rossini), the title role in Carmen (Bizet), Nerone in Agrippina (Handel), Sesto in La clemenza di Tito (Mozart), Paulina in Pique Dame (Tchaikovsky), Medea in Giasone (Cavalli), Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Fenena in Nabucco (Verdi), Orlovsky in Die Fledermaus (J. Strauss) and many other roles. She also performs regularly at the Volksoper in Vienna as well as in the opera houses of Graz, Tokyo, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen and many others. Her durst solo CD is titled I am Suddenly Spanish.
