Shifrin Karin, mezzo-soprano
Shifrin Karin, mezzo-soprano
Karin Shifrin was born in Israel. She graduated from the Buchman Mehta School of Music at the Tel Aviv University. She performed in concerts and recitals in Israel and abroad (Italy, Poland and other countries). Her operatic repertoire includes Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte (Mozart), the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos (R. Strauss) and other roles. She performed Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart) with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and also sang in Beethoven's ninth symphony with the IPO conducted by Zubin Mehta. She performed as a soloist with several Israeli orchestras including the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, IBA and the Raanana Symphonette Orchestra. She received the America Israel Cultural Foundation and the Hilde Zadek Foundation scholarships. At the Israeli Opera she performed in the world premiere of Max and Moritz (Shohat).
