Kalman Jean, lighting designer
Jean Kalman, lighting designer, was born in England. He has designed lighting for many theatre productions all over the world. His opera credits include Die Zauberflöte, La clemenza di Tito (Mozart), Carmen (Bizet), Alcina (Handel), Tristan und Isolde, Parsifal (Wagner), Guillaume Tell (Rossini), Tosca, Turandot, La boheme (Puccini), La Juive (Halevy), The Cunning Little Vixen (Janacek), Death of Klinghoffer (Adams), The Turn of the Screw, Peter Grimes (Britten), La traviata, Nabucco (Verdi), Wozzeck (Berg), Elektra (R. Strauss) and many others. He has worked at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, La Scala in Milano, the Roya Opera House Covent Garden and in the opera houses of Vienna, Paris, Naples, Amsterdam, Glyndebourne, ENO, Venice, Madrid, Florence and others. This is his first work at the Israeli Opera.
