Opdam Tosca, violinist
Opdam Tosca, violinist
Tosca Opdam, violinist, was born in the Netherlands. She completed her Master’s degree at the Juilliard School of Music in New York. In 2011 she won the Oskar Back Violin Competition. She made her recital debut in Carnegie Hall in New York in June 2018, performing a program that included the world premiere of North Atlantic Light by Robin de Raaff, dedicated to her and inspired by the Willem de Kooning painting of the same name. A year later she premiered the work’s orchestral version with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. She performs as a soloist with orchestras all over the world and as an avid chamber musician and recitalist she appeared in festivals in the Netherlands, the USA, Canada, Brazil and many other countries. She also designs programs that connect music to painting, dance and other art forms. She performed with the New York City Ballet, the New York Choreographic Institute and the Dutch National Ballet. She plays a 1700 Matteo Gofriller violin which is generously on loan to her by a private collector.
