Nir Rotem, conductor
Rotem Nir, conductor, was born in Israel. He won she Golden Baton conducting competition of the Buchmann Mehta School of Music and the Haifa Symphony Orchestra and the New Conductors competition of the Israel Chamber Orchestra. He is the substitute principal bassoon player of the opera orchestra, the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion and an assistant conductor at the Israel Chamber Orchestra. He conducted most Israeli orchestras including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Camerata Jerusalem, the Raanana Symphonette, the Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra and the Haifa Symphony Orchestra. He studied at the Nes Ziona Conservatory and at the Thelma Yellin High School for the Arts. He was a distinguished musician at the army and studied at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music conducting with Yoav Talmi and bassoon with Daniel Mazaki. He participated in masterclasses presented by Osmo Vanska and Ivan Fischer. This is his Israeli Opera conducting debut.
