Esther Bialas, set and costume designer, was born in Germany. She has designed for many European theatre companies including the Burgtheater Vienna, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Deutsche Theater Berlin and others including productions of Hamlet, The Work, The Robbers and A Dream Play. She has also designed for film. Her opera credits include Die schweigsame Frau (R. Strauss), Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Offenbach), Three Sisters (Eotvos), La Cenerentola (Rossini), Die Sieben Todsunden (Weill), West Side Story (Bernstein), La traviata (Verdi) and others at the Kmoische Oper Berlin, Vienna Staatsoper and the opera houses of Munich, Bregenz, Lucerne, Oslo, Basel and others.
