Matathias Asi, violinist
Asi Matathias, violinist, was born in Israel. He made his debut at the age of 14 with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta. Since then he has performed as a soloist with numerus international orchestras with many conductors including Eliahu Inbal, Dan Ettinger, Horia Andreescu, Frederic Chaslin, Mendi Rodan and many others. He records regularly for the BBC, CBC, WQXR, IBA and ORF. He is a frequent recitalist and has performed throughout the world in leading venues such as Carnegie Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, Izumy Hall in Japan, Liederhalle in Stuttgart, Harbin Opera House, the National Arts Center in Canada and others. He performs chamber music in prestigious international festivals with musicians including Yefim Bronfman, Nikolay Znaider, Pinchas Zukerman, Renaud Capucon, Nobuko Imai and others. He was awarded the 2017 career grant from Salon de Virtuosi in New York and has been supported regularly by the AICF. He graduated from the Manhattan School of Music where he was a longtime student of Pinchas Zukerman. This is his first performance with the Israeli Opera.
