Andrea Schmidt-Futterer, costume designer, was born in Germany. She has designed costumes for numerous theatre, dance and opera productions including From the House of the Dead (Janacek), Lulu (Berg), Macbeth (Verdi), Doktor Faust (Busoni), Arabella, Elektra, Ariadne auf Naxos (R. Strauss), Norma (Bellini), Don Giovanni (Mozart), Parsifal, Der fliegende Hollander (Wagner), Turandot, La fanciulla del West, Manon Lescaut (Puccini), Cardillac (Hindemith) and many others. She worked at the Salzburg Festival, La Scala in Milan, The Metropolitan Opera in New York and the opera houses of Amsterdam, Glyndebourne, Baden-Baden, Paris, Munich, Berlin, Zurich, Basel, Frankfurt, San Francisco, Geneva, Wiesbaden, Chicago, Barcelona and many others.
