Llaneza Luis Alberto, baritone
Luis Alberto Llaneza, baritone, was born in Spain. He has a wide repertoire of opera roles in cluding Alfredo in La traviata (Verdi), Zarzuela roles, lieder, oratorios, chamber music and contemporary music and focuses in all his performances on Spanish repertoire of all genres and periods including more than a few Ladino songs. He has performed extensively in Spain as well as in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Portugal, Italy, Norway, France, Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Turkey as well as in numerous South and Central American countries and in Africa. He gave a recital at Carnegie Hall in New York. Composer Manuel Garcia Morante has written several works for Llaneza, all based on the poetry of important Spanish poets, including Suite Sobre Canciones Populares in honor of Federico Garcia Lorca, a work for baritone and string quartet which he premiered in 1998 in Prague as well as Cantos de Don Quijote for baritone and guitar. He also premiered works by composers Jose Manuel Lezcano and Moises Beltran. He also gives lectures on vocal music and courses on traditional Spanish music.
