Maya Lahyani, mezzo soprano, was born in Israel. Her repertoire includes the title role in Carmen (Bizet), Dorothee in Cendrillon, Rosette in Manon (Massenet), Tisbe in La Cenerentola (Rossini), Grimgerde and Siegrune in Die Walkure (Wagner), the Palestinian Woman in The Death of Klinghoffer (Adams), Maddalena in Rigoletto, Flora in La traviata (Verdi), Lola in Cavalleria rusticana, the title role in Zanetto (Mascagni), Mother Marie in Dialogues des Carmelites (Poulenc), Fiona in Two Boys (Muhly), Varvara in Katya Kabanova (Janacek), Dryad in Ariadne auf Naxos, the Page in Salome, the Second Main in Elektra (R. Strauss), Hansel in Hansel und Gretel (Humperdinck), the Third Lady in Die Zauberflote (Mozart), Maffio Orsini in Lucrezia Borgia (Donizetti) and others. She performs at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and in the opera houses of Seattle, Toronto, Dallas, San Francisco, Detroit, Atlanta, Portland, Arizona, Minnesota, Monterrey, La Vegas, Wolf Trap and others. At the Israeli Opera she performed Charlotte in Werther (Massenet) and Sister Helen Prejean in Dead Man Walking (Heggie).
