Was born in Italy. Since his set design for Arlecchino in 1957, he has created sets and costumes for over 250 opera and theatre productions all around the world. He has worked with directors such as Castelloni, Cavani, Bolchi, De Filippo, Pasqual, Espert, Wood, Kontschalowski, Deflo, Ronconi, Faggioni, Montaldo and others. as well as for films of De Sica, Cavani, Bolognini, Bertolucci, Planchon and Schlöndorff. For his design of Cyrano de Bergerac he has received, among others, the César, an OSCAR Nomination and the European critic prize.
