Kamensek Karen, conductor
Karen Kamensek was born in the USA. Her vast opera repertoire includes Death in Venice (Britten), Pelleas et Melisande (Debussy), Susannah (Floyd), Pagliacci (Leoncavallo), Cavalleria rusticana (Mascagni), Boris Godunov (Mussorgsky), Tosca (Puccini), Otello (Verdi), Lohengrin (Wagner), Akhnaten, Orphee, Les Enfants Terribles (Glass), Candide (Bernstein), Der Freischutz (Weber) and others. She has conducted at numerous international opera houses including those of Berlin, Frankfurt, Melbourne, Copenhagen, San Diego, San Francisco, Vienna, English National Opera and many others. She also frequently conducts symphony orchestras in Europe, Asia and the USA and also works regularly with youth orchestras all over the world. She is the music director of the Hannover opera house and has also been music director at the Freiburg opera.
