Michiko Taguchi was born in Japan. She studies in Japan and in Italy. She directed several opera productions in Japan, Italy and Spain including Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), L’elisir d’amore (Donizetti), Cosi fan tutte (Mozart), La boheme (Puccini), Falstaff (Verdi) as well as revived numerous productions including Norma (Bellini), Madama Butterfly (Puccini) and others. At the beginning of her opera career she was a mezzo-soprano with a repertoire including Mercedes in Carmen (Bizet), Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini) and other roles.
