Lavi Shachar, mezzo-soprano
Shachar Lavi, mezzo soprano, was born in Israel, She studied at the Buchman-Mehta School of Music at the Tel Aviv University. She is a member of the ensemble of the Mannheim opera house. Her repertoire includes Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Second Lady in Die Zauberflote, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Hansel in Hansel und Gretel (Humperdinck), Maddalena in Rigoletto (Verdi), Fatima in Oberon (Weber), Cupidon Orfee aux Enfers (Offenbach), Varvara in Katya Kabanova (Janacek), Orlovsky in Die Fledermaus (J. Strauss), Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice (Gluck), Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini) and other roles. Her concert repertoire includes Mozart's Requiem and Coronation Mass, the Bach Magnificat, Vivaldi's Gloria and Rossini's Petite Messes Solennelle. She received scholarships and won competitions at the Buchman-Mehta School of Music and received the AICF, IVAI, Ronen and Eli Leon scholarships. She has recently performed in the opera houses of Mannheim, Heidelberg, Schwetzingen, Salzburg, Kaiserslautern, Ludwigshafen, Tenerife, Pesaro and Bologna. Shachar Lavi was a member of the Israeli Opera's Meitar Opera Studio where her repertoire included Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, the Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart), the title role in La Cenerentola (Rossini), Romeo in I Capuleti ed i Montecchi (Bellini) and other roles.
