Michael Weinius, tenor
Michael Weinius, tenor, was born in Sweden. He began his career as a baritone singing roles like Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte (Mozart), Renato in Un ballo in maschera, Posa in Don Carlo (Verdi) and Marcello in La boheme (Puccini). As a tenor his repertoire includes Laca in Jenufa (Janacek), Don Jose in Carmen (Bizet), Loge in Das Rheingold, the title role in Parsifal, Siegmund is Die Walkure (Wagner), Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera (Verdi), Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana (Mascagni), Dick Johnson in La fanciulla del West (Puccini), Herod in Salome (R. Strauss) as well as many other roles including King David in the world premiere of Bathsheba (Sven David Sandstrom). He performs at the opera houses of Malmo, Stockholm, Mannheim, Dusseldorf, Helsinki, Karlstad as well as in opera houses and concert halls in Norway, Austria, Spain, France, Belgium and the USA. This is his Israeli Opera and Israel Philharmonic Orchestra debut.
