Luigi Perego, set and costume designer, was born in Italy. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. Since 1983 he has designed productions for most leading Italian theatre and opera companies as well as in Bonn, Vienna, Hamburg, Berlin, Koln, Tokyo and other places. He has designed many productions for the Zurich Opera. His numerous opera productions include Tosca (Puccini), Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), Cavalleria rusticana (Mascagni), The Rake's Progress (Stravinsky), L'elisir d'amore (Donizetti), Ariadne auf Naxos (R. Strauss) and many others. This is his first work for the Israeli Opera.
