Hans Schavernoch, set designer
Hans Schavernoch, set designer, was born in Germany. He has worked in all the major opera houses and festivals around the world including Vienna, London, New York, Amsterdam, Munich, Chicago, Barcelona, Zurich, Florence, Los Angeles, Madrid, Tokyo, Dresden, Frankfurt and many others. Among his special designs are Palestrina (Pfitzner), La Damnation de Faust (Berlioz), Tannhauser, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Der Ring des Nibelungen (Wagner), Faust (Gounod), Der Rosenkavalier, Ariadne auf Naxos (R. Strauss), The Gambler (Prokofiev) and many others. For his work he received the Laurence Olivier Award amongst others. Since 1995 he has been a professor for stage and costume design in Graz. This is his Israeli Opera debut.
