    Tcherniakov Dmitri, director and set designer

    Dmitri Tcherniakov was born in Russia. He has directed operas and plays for theatres and opera houses all over Russia as well as in Berlin, Munich, La Scala, Paris and others. He is also the set designer and costume designer for nearly all his productions. At the Mariinsky he directed The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh (Rimsky Korsakov), A Life for a Tsar (Glinka), Tristan und Isolde (Wagner) and others.  At the Bolshoi he directed The Rake’s Progress (Stravinsky), Wozzeck (Berg) and others. His recent work includes Aida, Macbeth (Verdi),  Boris Godunov (Mussorgsky), The Gambler (Prokofiev), Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk (Shostakovich), Les Dialogues des Carmelites (Poulenc) and others. He has received numerous awards for his productions.
