    Valery Gilmanov was born in Russia. His repertoire includes Orlik in Mazeppa (Tchaikovsky), King of Clubs in L'amour des Trois Oranges, the Inquisitor in The Fiery Angel (Prokofiev), Varlaam in Boris Godunov (Mussorgsky), the title role in Ivan Susanin (Glinka), Daland in Der fliegende Hollander (Wagner), Farlaf in Ruslan and Ludmila (Glinka), Boris Timofyevich in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk (Shostakovich) and many other roles. He appears in opera houses in Russia, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Argentina and other countries.
