Dooner Dan, director
Dan Dooner was born in Canada. He studied English and drama at the universities of Toronto and London. He is a Staff Director at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and has worked extensively all over Europe. He has directed major revivals at Covent Garden including Rigoletto, La traviata, Simon Boccanegra, Un ballo in maschera (Verdi), Cosi fan tutte (Mozart), Don Pasquale, L’elisir d’amore (Donizetti) and others. He revived Lohengrin (Wagner) in La Scala, Owen Wingrave (Britten), Kát’a Kabanová, The Makropolus Case, Jenůfa (Janacek) and Tristan und Isolde (Wagner) in Glyndebourne, Parsifal (Wagner) at ENO and many others. In July 2011 he co-directed Nikolaus Lehnhoff’s production of Elektra (R. Strauss) at the Salzburg Festival.
