Johannes Leiacker, set designer, was born in Germany. Among his many opera productions are Don Carlo (Verdi) in Berlin, Don Carlos (Verdi) at the Vienna Staatsoper, Moses und Aaron (Schonberg) in Hamburg, Otello (Verdi) in Dresden, Tannhauser (Wagner), Simon Boccanegra (Verdi) and Mefistofele (Boito) in Frankfurt, Die fliegende Hollander (Wagner) in Moscow, Romeo et Juliette (Gounod) at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and many others. He also designed the musical Jakyl & Hyde. He teaches in Dresden and has received numerous awards for his work. For the Israeli Opera he designed Pagliacci (Leoncavallo) and Cavalleria rusticana (Mascagni).
