Lazaridis Stefanos, set designer
Stefanos Lazaridis, set designer, was born in Ethiopia of Greek parents and studied in Paris and London. He has designed plays, ballets and operas for companies all over the world including The Royal Shakespeare Company and La Scala. For the English National Opera he has designed many productions, usually with director David Pountney, including Doktor Faust (Busoni), The Mikado (Sullivan), Katya Kabanova (Janacek) and Rusalka (Dvorak). At the Bregenz Festival he has designed Fidelio (Beethoven), Nabucco (Verdi) and The Greek Passion (Martinu) and in Pesaro he has designed Moïse et Pharaon (Rossini). He has designed and directed Orfeo ed Euridice (Gluck), Oedipus Rex (Stravinsky) and other productions. At the Israeli Opera he has designed Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti) and Rigoletto (Verdi).
