Rochlitz Joseph, director
Joseph Rochlitz, director, was born in the United States. He directs opera and documentary films. He studied music at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève and at the Rubin Academy in Tel Aviv. His opera productions include Il giuramento (Mercadante) at the Wexford Festival, the world première of Therese Raquin (Harlap) at the Israel Festival, Aida (Verdi) in Mexico City and Marie Galante (Weill) at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome. He staged the opera sequence Vide cor meum in the Ridley Scott film Hannibal. Documentary films include The Righteous Enemy and It is No Dream. He is preparing a new documentary for Netherlands TV on the 17th century Jewish composer Salamone Rossi. At the Israeli Opera he revived Hugo de Ana’s production of Tosca (Puccini).
