George Petean was born in Romania. His repertoire includes the title role in Don Giovanni (Mozart), Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), Valentin in Faust (Gounod), Ford in Falstaff, Manrico in Il trovatore, Posa in Don Carlo, Renato in Un ballo in maschera (Verdi), Marcello in La bohème (Puccini), Silvio in Pagliacci (Leoncavallo), Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor, Belcore in L'elisir d'amore (Donizetti) and many other roles. He is a member of the Hamburg State Opera and performs regularly at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Vienna Staatsoper and in the opera houses of Rome, Frankfurt, Beijing, Paris, Bologna, Bregenz Festival, Geneva, Strasbourg, Berlin, Sevilla, Liège and many others.
